# Free icons, vectors and textures for design

> Free SVG icons from open-source icon sets, plus vectors, textures and backgrounds, with the licence of every set and file shown and transparent files marked.

Interface and slide design runs on small assets: icons for features and buttons, textures and gradients for backgrounds, cut-outs that sit on any colour. These collections gather open-source icon sets through Iconify (over 200,000 icons from Material Design, Tabler, Phosphor and more), SVG drawings from Wikimedia Commons, and textures from open collections. Every card says whether the file is a vector and whether its background is transparent.

## Icon licences

Open-source icon sets use software licences: MIT, Apache 2.0, ISC or the SIL Open Font License. All allow commercial use in apps and websites. MIT, Apache and ISC ask you to keep the licence notice with copies you distribute, which for a website or app usually means listing the set in your open-source notices. A few sets are CC BY and need a visible credit.

## SVG or PNG

SVG is a vector format: it scales to any size, stays sharp on every screen and can be recoloured with CSS. Use it for icons and logos-style graphics. PNG is a bitmap: pick it for cut-out photos with a transparent background, at the size you'll show them.

## Questions

**Can I use open-source icons in a commercial app?**

Yes. MIT, Apache 2.0, ISC and OFL icon sets allow commercial use; keep the set's licence notice with your app's third-party notices. Check the licence shown on each icon, since a few sets need a visible credit.

**How do I change an SVG icon's colour?**

Iconify icons use currentColor, so they take the text colour of the element they sit in. Set color in CSS, or replace the fill in the file.
