## What it is

The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York has released over 400,000 images of public-domain works in its collection under CC0: paintings, prints and drawings, photographs, armour, ceramics, textiles and objects from every period and culture.

## Best for

Paintings and old masters, Japanese prints, decorative arts, antiquities and early photographs, at print resolution.

## Licence

Open Access images are CC0: free for any use, including commercial, with no credit required (the museum appreciates one). Only works marked public domain are searched here.

## How Image Asset Server searches it

Through the museum's keyless Collection API: a search returns matching object ids (public-domain works with images only), and each result's record gives its title, artist, date, department and image links. Records are cached for a day.
