Landscapes at full size

These are nature photos with at least 2160 pixels on the short side: wide enough for a desktop wallpaper, a full-bleed hero image or an A4 print. Most come from Wikimedia Commons, where photographers upload originals straight from their cameras, and from Creative Commons photos that Openverse indexes from Flickr.

Using them

Download the size you need rather than the original: a 1920 px copy is plenty for a website and loads far faster. Leave space for text where the picture has it (a calm sky, still water), and check the shape: a wide panorama crops badly to a phone screen.

Licences vary per photo. CC0 and public-domain images need nothing; CC BY needs the credit line shown in the detail view; CC BY-SA means an edited version must carry the same licence. Unsplash, Pexels and Pixabay have more modern nature photography and are linked from every search.
